Call for a collaborative nature-human dialogue!
The consequences of climate change are already noticeable today. Including Moabiter Stadtgarten. Urban nature and human health in and around ZK/U Berlin are suffering from increasingly intense climate extremes. In the process of the current ZK/U transformation, the aim is to work together on a more climate-friendly future. The focus thereby lies on plants and the question of how humans and nature can take better care of each other.
WHAT IS KLIMAKUNSTLABOR?
This summer, the Klimakunstlabor (Climate Art Lab) will be a field test in form of a series of discussions and experiments. Throughout the project, immediate effects of climate change on the ZK/U and the Moabiter Stadtgarten will be addressed and compared different perspectives. In a flexible team of neighbors, artists and scientists, various issues of urban climate change are being discussed. With a focus on real experiments, sustainable solutions are elaborated, conceived. Finally, prototypes are built and experimented with.
WHAT IS THE GOAL?
mobile shade vines - talkative trees -
sensor-based dialogues - communicative climate art
ZK/U Berlin calls for a dialogue between nature and humans on the search for creative as well as sustainable solutions to adapt to climate change. In the open-ended process of the field experiments, all team members are asked to offer their knowledge and skills while learning from everyone else. In the first phase of the process, initial objectives are formulated. Now, these are developed further and tested in the real experiments. Innovation through trial and error.
WHO IS PARTICIPATING?
The climate art lab is aimed at all interested neighbors and users of the Stadtgarten, as well as all artists, climate activists and tinkerers who want to learn from each other, discuss, plan, build and experiment together. The team's interests lie in art, community building, urbanism, architecture, communication, design, music, dance, climate activism, gardening, environmental science, computer science, arboristic, and many fields of knowledge more.
WHEN AND WHERE DO THE WORKSHOPS TAKE PLACE?
The Klimakunstlabor is taking place from mid-June to mid-October 2021. The workshops contain input from experts of different fields. All participants are part of the ZK/U development team, so the real lab will take place as a working meeting on top of the new BAUschilderung (Construction Explained).
