Jesse Siegel ( Mexico )

His research for the past few years has been around culture in “New Towns”, such as his hometown, Cancun, Mexico.  These cities are created by governments around the world for different economic reasons and yet culture is an often-overlooked aspect. Within this context, the question “What does it mean to be from newness?” is at the core of the research.

At ZK/U he hopes to explore the limits of where the city becomes “new”; observing construction sites, abandoned facilities, and temporary encampments. From this starting point, he would like to develop a performance script based on sound, image, and movement.
