The project included a series of activities, such as research, workshops and a final presentation with a sound installation. Through the project focusing on the environmental sound, music, and memories of people in local communities in Berlin with different cultural backgrounds, I tried to nurture the conversation between these different communities. And I also tried to make those who came to the open house programs understand those communities.
For this purpose, I got in contact with a Filipino Church community based in Charlottenburg, an Indonesian Muslim community based in Moabit, traditional Indonesian music groups based in the House of Indonesian Culture in Tempelhof, a German church community based in Moabit.
This time, I focused on Filipino and Indonesian communities because I am familiar with these countries and have connections with those communities in Japan.
