Anlässlich des großen Sterbens der Clubs und Kulturräume lädt der Untersuchungsausschuss (UA) #03 des ZK/U Berlin unterstützt von Reclaim Club Culture zum gemeinsamen Trauerzug ein.

Immer mehr Clubs und Kulturräumen in Berlin droht das Ende - oder sie mussten bereits schließen. Gründe für die Verdrängung dieser Freiräume sind der (Weiter-)Verkauf der Grundstücke von und an Privatinvestor*innen, Schwierigkeiten, von der Stadt Genehmigungen zu erhalten, andauernde Lärmbeschwerden von (zugezogenen) Anwohner*innen oder einfach unverhältnismäßige Mietsteigerungen, die zu einer nicht mehr bezahlbaren Miete für die in der Regel nicht-kommerziellen Projekte und Gruppen führen.

Der UA #03 des ZK/U – Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik lädt daher am 23.05.2019 im Rahmen des OPENHAUS PLUS zu einer großen Beerdigungszeremonie und zur “Katharsis der Freiräume” ein.

Um 17 Uhr startet der Trauerzug “Katharsis der Freiräume” unter Beteiligung vieler Gruppen bedrohter oder bereits verlorener Räume am Hansaplatz und führt dann als Demonstration zum ZK/U – Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik, wo um 19 Uhr die Beerdigungszeremonie mit performativer Bestattung, musikalischen Trübsalbläsern und Leichenschmaus stattfinden wird.

Der UA #03 ist in seiner dreimonatigen Recherche zu dem Ergebnis gekommen, dass die Benennung der Stadt als „Solidarity City“ zwar von der Zivilgesellschaft getragen wird und viele Initiativen sich dafür momentan aktiv zu Bündnissen zusammenschließen. Die Parteipolitik aber verändert recht wenig an den Strukturen, um die Entwicklung Berlins hin zu einer echten solidarischen Stadt zu ermöglichen.

Die vollständigen Ergebnisse des dritten ZK/U-Untersuchungsausschusses zum Thema „Solidarität³ - zwischen Kunst, (Club-)Kultur und widerständigen Strukturen“ werden zusammen mit zwei künstlerischen Arbeiten zum Thema in einer Publikation veröffentlicht und ebenfalls beim OPENHAUS PLUS am 23.05.2019 vorgestellt. Ab 20 Uhr startet dazu die “Guided Tour” inkl. “Gallery Walk” im ZK/U Berlin, die durch das ehemalige Bahnbetriebswerk in der Siemensstr. 27 in 10551 Berlin-Moabit führt.

In response to the large demise of clubs and cultural spaces, ZK/U Berlin’s Fact-Finding Committee (UA) #03 and Reclaim Club Culture invite you to a collective funeral procession.

More and more clubs and cultural spaces are threatened with extinction - if they were not already forced to close down. The reasons for the repression of these free spaces are (re-)sale of their grounds by and to private investors, trouble to receive permits from the city, continuous noise complaints from (new) neighbours or disproportionate rent increases leading to rental prices that are simply unaffordable for these usually non-commercial projects and collectives.

Therefore, in the context of OPENHAUS PLUS on the 23rd of May 2019, UA #03 from ZK/U - Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik invites you to a large funeral ceremony and a “Catharsis of Free Spaces”.

Attended by various representatives of threatened or already lost spaces, the funeral procession “Catharsis of Free Spaces” starts at 5 p.m., leading from the starting point on Hansaplatz to ZK/U - Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik, where a performative burial ceremony with musical lamentation and a wake will take place at 7 p.m.

In its three-month research, UA #03 came to the conclusion that on the one hand the designation of Berlin as “Solidarity City” is being carried out by civil society, and many initiatives are actively forging alliances. On the other hand, however, very little is being done on a political level to change urban infrastructures and make the development of Berlin into a truly solidary city possible.

The complete results of ZK/U’s third Fact-Finding Committee on the theme of “Solidarity³ - between Art, (Club) Culture and Resistant Structures” will be published together with two artistic works on the same theme, and presented during OPENHAUS PLUS on the 23rd of May. At 8 p.m. a "guided tour" and “gallery walk” starts at ZK/U Berlin, leading through the former railway depot on Siemensstr. 27 in 10551 Berlin-Moabit.
