A summer series at ZK/U on rehearsal and practice for possibilities beyond structures of extraction and power - with workshops, participatory activities, conversations, performances, sounds, readings, dinners, role play & exhibition.
Which moves do we want to rehearse for ways of being and doing, of relating and organizing, that would point beyond the established structures of extraction and power? How may we seek to do things differently, in more caring, nourishing, relational and equitable ways?
The setting is hazy. We cannot see where to turn to leave the current path of ever reproducing extractive and oppressive structures, and we don't know how much we can actually change. Issues we encounter are complex and entangled, and we often don't fully understand. The road ahead feels uncertain and is probably unsafe. Situated in the ruins of a lot of violence done for a long time.
Still, we want to do something and have agency. And try out, experiment with, adapt and attempt anew, and experience ways of doing, relating and organizing otherwise. To learn to move by trying to move. And to get better over time through practice. Addressing difficult questions on the way, like negotiating conflict, and dealing with violence and complexity. As well as working to make the ground soft for each other to fall on when we slip.
Rehearsing Moves on Hazy Paths invites artists, thinkers and practitioners, as well as participants and guests to use the cultural space as a rehearsal space for approaches from different perspectives and lived experiences, towards a pluriverse of practices and contexts of doing things otherwise. We look forward to sharing summer evenings with inspirations, conversations, joint activities, food and togetherness.
