ZK/U – Center for Art and Urbanistics was founded in 2012 in Moabit’s city garden, housed in a former freight station. Initiated by artists, it serves as a cultural venue featuring an artist residency program, project spaces, and community facilities. ZK/U acts as a hub for the exchange between global discourses and local practices.
Part of ZK/U's mission is to host individual artists, practitioners, and urban researchers—or collaborative groups—in 14 self-contained units, each offering living, working, and leisure spaces. These units, ranging from 32 to 53 square meters, accommodate artistic or research residencies lasting from 2 to 8 months.
ZK/U offers flexible spaces that can be used for a wide range of productions: as an interdisciplinary performance venue, for conferences and workshops, film screenings, concerts, or networking events, all supported by sustainable catering services.
Revenue generated from rentals is reinvested into supporting our inclusive program, artist residencies, and community engagement initiatives.
