Grand Opening of Zentrums für Kunst und Urbanistik (ZK/U)

Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik

The inauguration of ZK/U is going to be celebrated in two events.
An Official Opening on Monday, 24th September and an Opening Celebration on Saturday, 29th September.

ZKU - Center for Arts and Urbanistics) has been founded by several artists from the Berlin-based artists‘ collective KUNSTrePUBLIK, offering residencies for artistic practice at the interface of urban research. Following a four year process of negotiations and reconstructions, and with a lot of support from friends and colleagues, the ZKU has opened its doors in August 2012. ###
Located in a former railway depot surrounded by a newly landscaped public park, ZKU seeks to develop projects, co-produce knowledge and share values created through exchange. The site has been established through a 40 year lease based on a non-profit institutional structure, allowing independent research, programming and production. ZKU focuses on the processes that come from, and feed into, the particular contexts of its residents' practice, whether they be locally-defined situations or international discourses.

5 pm Food + 9 pm Footage

Edition 1: 'You waste it, we taste it'! with Alex Sommerfeld and Folke Köbberling

As part of the grand opening of ZK/U, KUNSTrePUBLIK is happy to announce the first edition of Food and Footage.
It is the first in a series of evenings, in which a film curator and a cook are going to blend local and international cuisine and cinema. Starting from a common theme, the cook and the curator will interactively create a menu of films referring to the food and vice versa. Local specialities, home-made brews and DiY-Culture will meet international influences and discourse.
In the first edition Alex Sommerfeld from www.kochabenteuer.de will be using MHD goods (almost expired food) to create menus corresponding to films assorted by artist and activist Folke Köbberling.
