Re-imagining and re-imaging - Sophia Schultz

Sophia Schultz ( United States )

While at ZK/U, Sophia Schultz Rocha investigated relationships and synchronicities between humans and nature within the intersection of healing and activism. Through understanding the body as an archive for memory and knowledge, the artist proposes the inclusion of nature and plants as record-keepers. Over the three months the artist worked on a video piece using the landscape, the body, and medicinal plants to look at restoration, “species loneliness”, and agency. Along with the short film, Schultz researched, talked with local artists, gardeners, and herbalists, and attended a speculative fiction writing workshop to inform her publication that is currently in progress about imagining the future in times of climate disaster.
