Nach ihrer Heimkehr zusammen mit ihrem neugeborenen Sohn in einem Dorf im Nordosten Brasiliens wartet Hermila ungeduldig auf die Ankunft ihres Ehemanns, bis sie nach endlosem Warten langsam feststellen muss, offenbar im Stich gelassen worden zu sein. Sie beginnt eine kurze Affäre mit ihrem alten Jugendfreund, entschließt sich dann jedoch dazu ihrem alten Leben den Rücken zu kehren. 

Um der Ödnis in ihrem Dorf zu entkommen ist sie fest entschlossen, Geld aufzutreiben indem sie Lose für eine besondere Lotterie verkaufen möchte: Unter dem neuen Namen Suely lockt als Hauptgewinn eine Nacht mit ihr. Dadurch will sie sich von ihrer Familie und ihrer Vergangenheit distanzieren und neue, offene Horizonte schaffen.

Das regelmäßig stattfindende Format Speisekino des ZK/U bringt Film und Essen zu einem jeweiligen Thema zusammen. Manchmal ist die Beziehung offensichtlich – wenn zum Beispiel Essen aus einer Region, in der ein Film spielt, serviert wird. Manchmal ist die Verbindung subtiler, und der Film wird beispielsweise von einem Essen begleitet, das auch im Drehbuch vorkommt. Während ihrer Laufzeit kooperiert die 10. Berlin Biennale mit dem ZK/U: Im Rahmen von I’m Not Who You Think I’m Not meets Speisekino sind verschiedene Gastgeber*innen eingeladen, Essen und Filme im Zusammenhang mit Themen der 10. Berlin Biennale auszusuchen und zu präsentieren.

After returning home with her newborn son in a village in northeastern Brazil, Hermila waits impatiently for the arrival of her husband, until, after endless wait, she slowly determines she has been let down. She starts a short affair with her old boyfriend, but then decides to turn her back on her old life.

To escape the wasteland in her village, she is determined to raise money by selling lots for a special lottery: under the new name Sulely lures as a jackpot one night with her. She wants to distance herself from her family and her past and create new, open horizons.

ZK/U – Center for Art and Urbanistics’ regular Speisekino format combines films and food around a particular topic. Sometimes the relation is obvious, and food from the region where the film is set is served. Sometimes the link between the two is more subtle, when for example the film is accompanied by a dish that also appears in the plot. Throughout its running time, the 10th Berlin Biennale collaborates with ZK/U for I’m Not Who You Think I’m Not meets Speisekino and invites various hosts to select and present food and footage around aspects of the 10th Berlin Biennale.

Beim OPENHAUS werden einmal im Monat die Türen zu den Atelierstudios der Resident*innen beim ZK/U geöffnet. Die Besucher*innen sind eingeladen, das Residenz-Programm kennenzulernen und sich mit den anwesenden Resident*innen über Projekte und Arbeitsprozesse auszutauschen.

Los gehts mit dem ZK/U UA #01: Gemeingut Grün

Berlin gilt als Hauptstadt der urbanen Gärten. Doch viele dieser Gärten sind prekäre Zwischennutzungen. In einem dreimonatigen Untersuchungsausschuss, geleitet von Marco Clausen und Kerstin Meyer, wird die von der gegenwärtigen Koalition in Aussicht gestellte gesamtstädtische Planung für interkulturelle und urbane Gärten aufgegriffen und geht den Fragen nach: Können wir das Grün von unten dauerhaft sichern und gemeinwohlorientiert organisieren, oder müssen die Gärten dem Bagger weichen?

ZK/U Fact-Finding Committee ("Untersuchungsausschuss")

ZK/U sets up a series of temporary committees investigating current issues faced by Berlin's urban society whose resolution is a matter of public interest.

Let's start with the ZK / U UA # 01: Common Good Green

Berlin is considered as the capital of urban gardens. But many of these gardens are precarious temporary uses. A three-month committee of inquiry headed by Marco Clausen and Kerstin Meyer takes up the overall urban planning for intercultural and urban gardens envisaged by the current coalition and addresses the following questions: Can we or must organize the green from below permanently? the gardens give way to the excavator?

Focusing on a new analogue archiving system developed by Sven Sorić and Hrvoje Spudić, the piece takes the listener through a multitude of perspectives from residents to ZK/U staff. Ultimately asking where, if not within an experimental residency center, are we to ask the core questions of about what it means to 'reside' live and reproduce our day to day lives? Registrieren Sie sich bis zum 20. Oktober 2018 und fordern Sie die künstliche Intelligenz heraus!

Die wachsende Vernetzung von allem und jedem verwandelt unsere Welt in ein beispielloses techno-soziales Umfeld. Die Grenzen zwischen Atmosphäre und Politik werden aufgehoben; Bereits kleine Brüche können kaskadenartige Auswirkungen haben - denken Sie an Cyber-Attacken oder Börsencrashs, rechte Ressentiments oder Hashtag-basierte Proteste. Solche umwälzenden Revolten werden zunehmend von künstlicher Intelligenz (KI) angetrieben - menschliche Interaktion involvierend, aber scheinbar über die menschliche Aufsicht hinaus. Vor diesem Hintergrund stellt die Konferenz die Fragen: Was ist die techno-soziale Logik von sowohl regressiven als auch repressiven Tendenzen? Was sind emanzipatorische Bewegungen? Welches Potenzial haben mikropolitische Akte im Alltag? Welche Regelungen automatisierter Systeme auf Makroebene werden im Zeitalter der KI Demokratie entstehen lassen?

Die Berliner Gazette-Konferenz wird diese Fragen im Kontext von Performances, Vorträgen und Workshops untersuchen. Die 18. Ausgabe der diesjährigen Berliner Gazette findet in Zusammenarbeit mit dem ZK / U - Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik zum zweiten Mal statt, dieses Jahr vom 7. bis 10. November 2018. Die Konferenz-Workshops werden mehr als 100 Aktivisten aus der ganzen Welt zusammenbringen. Die Berliner Gazette wird wichtige Akteur*innen aus der internationalen Szene einladen, um den Kern von fünf Workshop-Tracks zu bilden, und wird eine öffentliche Ausschreibung für die Öffentlichkeit publizieren.

The growing interconnectedness of everyone and everything is transforming our world into an unprecedented techno-social environment. The boundaries between atmosphere and politics are being suspended; already, tiny ruptures can cause cascade-like repercussions - think of cyber-attacks or stock market crashes, right-wing resentment or hashtag-based protest. Such ambient revolts are increasingly driven by artificial intelligence (AI) - involving human interaction but seemingly beyond human oversight. Set against this backdrop, the conference poses the questions: What are the techno-social logics of both regressive and repressive tendencies? What are emancipatory movements up against? What potential do micro-political acts have in day-to-day life? What regulations of automated systems at the macro level will enable democracy to emerge in the age of AI? The Berliner Gazette conference will explore these questions in the context of performances, lectures and workshops. The 18th edition of this annual Berliner Gazette event will be held for the second time in collaboration with the ZK/U - Center for Art and Urbanistics and will take place on November 7-10, 2018.

The conference workshops will bring together more than 100 activists from all over the world. The Berliner Gazette will invite key actors from the international scene to form the core of five workshop tracks, and will issue an open call for the general public to register.
