In the summer of 2012 the Center for Art and Urbanistics / Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanstik (ZKU) launched its research and residency program.
The ZKU offers a space for ‘living & work’: furnished accommodation with mostly private bathroom, studio, wifi, communal facilities, shared and private production areas, a platform open to public events, lectures, performance and presentations.
The residency is partly funded by ZKU. The resident’s costs will be between 500 and 800 euro a month.
Applicant Requirements
ZKU welcomes artists, scholars and practitioners (curators, activists, autodidacts etc.) interested in cross-disciplinary theory and practice dealing with the city.
The application proposal should refer to one of the current themes of the ZKU residency program or to an independent research and practice proposal. (‘Ad Hoc’ theme)
Artists should be working professionally in their fields, with a broad range of projects and exhibition experience. Scholars are expected to have attained a level equivalent to a master’s degree, and preferably to have some years of professional experience. Practitioners should have a broad range of professional experience in their fields.

5 Weeks Residency for German Artists living in Berlin, at AIR Helgeland-Berlin.
The residency a project initiated by ABH/ ArtBase Helgeland 66°N, Northern Norway.
ABH / AIR Helgeland-Berlin in cooperation with ZK/U, Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik in Berlin, offers a 5 weeks residency starting august 2013 in Dønna, Helgeland, Northern Norway (week 35-39).
Location: Nordvika is one of the oldest preserved trading centres in Norway and dates back to the 1600s. Nordvika is run by Helgeland Museum. It is beautifully situated on the island Dønna, between high mountains and a protected bay. Dønna is a small island, 20 minutes with ferry from the small town Sandnessjøen. Sandnessjøen, Stokka, is the nearest airport.
About the residency
Eligibility to apply: German artists resident in Berlin. The residency includes a grant of 2500€, living and working space, as well as support of travel expenses up to 500€. The selection is based on proposal for stay, artistic merits and the quality of artistic practice. They will be asked to present their artistic practice in an open studio day to inform and engage the local community and to organize a public presentation of the result of their proposed project towards the end of the residency. ABH and AIR Helgeland-Berlin will produce documentations from the residency for online presentations, a catalogue covering the artistic process and the period of the residency. The selected artists will be asked to keep a diary for this purpose.
Applicants are expected to master the English language.

About ABH/ ARTBASE HELGELAND 66°N - AIR HELGELAND-BERLIN
ABH/ ArtBase Helgeland 66°N is founded and run by Ina Otzko and Kari Elfstedt. ABH is a non-profit artist initiative organizing and producing site-specific exhibitions and projects. ABH is promoting projects, which challenges boundaries and critical discussion concerning development of rural places and spaces in the north and how it may affect the local environment in a long-term perspective. ABH aspire cross boarder projects that explore new ways of active participation aiming to connect people, places and spaces for cultural and critical exchange and expansion beyond what is already known.
