[...] IN RESIDENCY - ZK/U OPEN CALL

3 - 8 Months Residencies for Scholars, Artists and Practitioners at ZK/U, Berlin

In the summer of 2012 the Center for Art and Urbanistics / Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik (ZK/U) launched its research and residency program.

The ZK/U offers a space for ‘living & work’: furnished accommodation with mostly private bathrooms, studio, wifi, communal facilities, shared and private production areas, a platform open for public events, lectures, discussions, screenings, performances and presentations.

The residence costs for individuals will be between 550 and 850 euro a month, depending the unit and their availability.

Applicant Requirements

ZK/U welcomes artists, scholars, practitioners, as well as all type of professionals, artists in their field working on the edge of their practice, interested in cross-disciplinary theory and practice dealing with the city. ZK/U is interested in contemporary artistic positions, ranging from contextual and interventionist to conceptual and public art that address selected themes. Work at ZK/U is informed by theoretical and practice-based critiques developed in the disciplines of geography, anthropology, urban planning, architecture and the humanities.

The application proposal should be coherent with the Open Call conceptual frame.

Artists should be working professionally in their fields and have a broad range of projects and exhibition experience. Scholars and practitioners should have some years of professional experience. Artists, scholars, and practitioners can apply individually or as a group. We especially encourage group applications consisting of artists working with scholars or practitioners from other disciplines.

Furthermore, the residents are invited to use ZK/U as a platform, and propose their own formats or long-term satellite projects. You are  encouraged  to get involved in ZK/U’s regular formats: Do a workshop at the Gütermarkt, surprise our Speisekino visitors with a film or a meal, and engage in discussions at the Openhaus about your work.
