ZK/U – Center for Art and Urbanistics
ZK/U – Center for Art and Urbanistics (short: ZK/U Berlin) is an artist residency, a space for research and production and a platform for exhibitions, conferences and workshops related to social and cultural topics. The artist collective KUNSTrePUBLIK founded ZK/U Berlin in a former railway depot located on the grounds of Stadtgarten Moabit, an urban garden. Its doors opened to the public in 2012.
Around 15 artists and urban studies researchers from around the world live and work at ZK/U Berlin. During their residencies, which typically last several months, the processes and results of their project work is presented to the public on a regular basis.
Many of the social and cultural projects ZK/U Berlin initiates center on challenges to urban society. Alongside its frequent in-house productions, such as OPENHAUS, GÜTERMARKT and SPEISEKINO, ZK/U Berlin also features projects by its external partners and other collaborators.
