FOOD & FOOTAGE - Independent movies in combination with food

ZK/U BerlinSiemensstr. 27, 10551, Berlin, Germany
At Food&Footage, filmmakers and chefs come together to combine moving images with a three-course meal and thus bring current social, cultural and political topics to the table.
Food & Footage 2025 opens with Vitić Dances (Vitić pleše) by Boris Bakal — a reflective documentary on memory, community, and urban space. Through personal storytelling and spatial memory, the film invites us into a layered exploration of architecture, society, and the traces people leave behind. The screening will be accompanied by a shared dinner inspired by the film, prepared together by our kitchen team and the director — continuing the tradition of bringing people together through food, cinema, and dialogue.
Feature-length documentary film about the 20-year struggle of artist Boris Bakal to restore, through cooperation and conflicts with the local community (co-owners/tenants), an apartment block in Zagreb, a masterpiece of modernist architecture, which thus becomes a metaphor for the entire Croatian/European society, its dynamics, controversies and misconceptions. A hypertextual story about exploring the purpose and futility of individual advocacy for the common good. A story about all of us, about others in us and around us, and the space in between. A movie with a happy ending with a twist.
