Reading and Discusssing the Death and Life of Cities

October 2nd - October 10th

Listen to our latest outcomes from Ständige Vertretung on our very local radio: sub_ʇxǝʇ 108FM Moabit, Berlin.
This week sub_
ʇxǝʇ will be broadcasting a FULL reading+discussion of Jane Jacobss 1961 book The Death and Life of Great American Cities. Jacobs was an activist against modernist planning Dogma; she was pivotal in defeating the construction of major highways across New York City. Her work has been influential ever since to understanding and appreciating organic urban vibrancy. Her book forms a basis to discuss criticism of today’s globalized city.

The program will be aired as an extended community-oriented radio program on the short-range 108FM station in Moabit, Berlin. “Death and Life” will beled by Anna Kostreva, an architect, artist and researcher based in Berlin. She will be broadcasting from the Ständige Vertretung studio at the ZK/U from 13:00- 16:00 from Oct. 2 - Oct.10. The residents of ZK/U and the public are welcome to enter the studio at anytime during broadcast and for any period of time to help with reading the text and discussing it in our contemporary context.

Death and Life will be broadcast later in the year on 199 Radio London

If you would like to join the reading/discussion, but cannot make it to the 13:00-16:00 time slot, get in touch for flexible hours.

Looking forward to seeing you!
