PLANT STORIES #6: flax friction - Eine Pflanze namens Lein.

Gathering, Storytelling, Sounds, and a Flax Plant - with Sina Ribak

04 OCTOBER 2025 / 15:00

Let’s gather to meet a plant named flax. I will bring a story, a flax plant and sounds made by flax and its companions. You can listen, touch flax and share your impressions. Is this plant a past memory, a living being or a resource? And why does it matter?
Your imagination allows you to drift away from the shelter of the glasshouse, expanding the gaze beyond the patch of the Moabit city garden or further, shipping out of the docks of Westhafen. Culture and extractivism appear side-by-side on that journey. Psst, is there anyone on the brink of extinction?

Here, agro-biodiversity comes into play. Listening to a passage of the more-than-human music piece by composer-violinist Ellie Wilson, the unnoticeable makes itself known.
Come with an open mind and please bring a piece of linen fabric that you might have. For example an old tea towel, bed linen, a piece of clothing or some discarded scraps. With stains or holes - it is the story that matters.

In english, with summaries and translations into German if required.
