The “Güterbahnhof” playground in the green space next to ZK/U is back: the redesign was completed in early April 2026, and the much-loved, frequently used playground on the grounds of the former freight station is once again open for children and young people to play, run around, explore and relax.

The renovation took into account the results of a youth participation process carried out by Kinder- und Jugendbüro Mitte in February 2025. Special thanks go to the children of Theodor-Heuss-Gemeinschaftsschule, who contributed as creative and critical playground experts. The result is a renewed neighbourhood space with inclusive and low-barrier play opportunities – right in the heart of Moabit, next to ZK/U.

On Saturday, 09 May 2026, Bezirksstadträte Christopher Schriner and Christoph Keller will officially open the playground together with Kinder- und Jugendbüro Mitte as part of a small celebration. Children, families, neighbours and everyone interested are warmly invited to join and inaugurate the new-old playground together.

The redesign was funded by the State of Berlin’s Kita and Playground Renovation Programme.
