OPENHAUS PLUS

Global meets Local /// TWO-Day open studios, performances, videos, installations, publication and talks with residents and participants of the fact-finding committee #01Green Commons and the Artist Dis-Placement programme

OPENHAUS PLUS Global meets Local

The OPENHAUS PLUS is a two-day extension of the regular public format followed by the Speisekino. ZK/U invites audiences to connect with the hosted projects and to explore the process of its residency program. Every three months a temporary fact-finding committee, which investigates current issues faced by Berlin’s urban society whose resolution is a matter of public interest, presents its findings in a final report and is supplemented by two artistic positions from Berlin at the OPENHAUS PLUS. The Berlin Fact-Finding Committee (“UA”) intends to tie local discourse to global practices brought to ZK/U by its international artists-in-residence, helping the international community understand Berlin’s unique challenges.

The Artist Dis-Placement Program, which investigates urban infrastructure and public services, goes even further by dis-placing artists to work in non-artistic organisations. Experiences and results of the Deutsche Bahn (German Railway), a women prison and a public library will be shared. September’s resident artists explore different social contexts, a variety of public spaces and site-specific approaches. Sharing different narratives and expressions they will present audio-visual installations, photographs, drawings, performances and show their work in progress. Don’t miss the opportunity to meet the artists and researchers in residence and explore ZK/U’s space and surroundings, to ask questions, to discuss and to exchange ideas about ongoing projects and artistic practices.

Participating residents: Evrim Kavcar, Florencia Vecino & Marcos Torino, Ojudun Taiwo Jacob, Artist Dis-Placement: Victoria Tomaschko, Oliver Walker, Joel Verwimp, ZK/U Fact Finding Committee: Marco Clausen, Boris Jöns, Kerstin Meyer, Francesca Cogni
