OPENHAUS November 2021

ZK/U BerlinSiemensstr. 27, 10551, Berlin, Germany

On November 25 from 7 p.m., ZK/U Berlin is inviting its residents to open the doors to their studios for OPENHAUS. Eleven artists, emerging curators and three collectives from around the world assemble to show their work-in-progress and engage on topics at the intersection of art and urbanity:

“The personal is political. As the walls of the city lean in on us, as the digital signals rattle in our brains, we try to imagine how the world could be or should have been. This is a scary time. Democracies are being hacked, peoples near and dear to us are being violently oppressed. The police are harassing our youth. We are standing in this maelstrom and offer our view, reaching for answers and ways of dealing with or changing the world. It may take the form of personal memories and transience, transcending animal metaphors, augmented reality installations, studies of privatisation of essential resources, reflections on reenactments of history, human-scale motherboards, or making a place to listen to time. Together we are trying our part to make the future liveable.”

Curatorial statement by the artists and researchers of ZK/U Residency.

Following their one month residency at ZK/U Berlin, the art-based research project Some Call Us Balkans (SCUB) invites participants to interact and create their own booklets.

ZK/U Berlin is looking forward to welcoming you to the last OPENHAUS of 2021. Next to the artists’ presentations, warm drinks, a bonfire and a DJ in front of the building will make this November evening a cozy one.
