OPENHAUS JULY 2025

Open studios, performance, video, installation and resident talks

17 JULY 2025 / 19:00 – 23:00

ZK/U BerlinSiemensstr. 27, 10551, Berlin, Germany

OPENHAUS is an open-studio format that takes place every second month in ZK/U, inviting artists in residence and current project partners to open their studios to the public. It offers a unique opportunity to experience the diverse interests and creative processes of the artists, reflected in their own personal studios.

Working in mediums from painting and poetry to video and audio, the residents explore themes of climate change and migration, queerness, local ecosystems and more. Several short and longer form video works deal with winter swimming in Beijing or the cultural exchange between China and the former GDR – this time even on the really big screen!  You can encounter Protect-O-Mobiles or visit an embodied Ledger-Shrine. Curious yet?

In July, you can expect an extended OPENHAUS. Beyond the thresholds of their individual studios, the residents will also activate the terrace and Ständige Vertretung, as well as spaces in the new building extension.

Rather than showcasing final results, OPENHAUS focuses on works-in-progress, allowing visitors to interact with the artists and learn about their artistic journey. This participatory and informal format invites the public to delve into the behind-the-scenes and engage with the artists on a more personal level. It is a chance for both the artists and the community to connect and share ideas.
