OPENHAUS - open studios, performances, videos, installations and resident talks

ZK/U is part of Vorspiel / transmediale & CTM festival in January again and will participate with its own format OPENHAUS. The themes of the current projects are about rethinking the use of public space, will elaborate on the connection between digital culture and human emotions and carry the topic into new contexts.

The OPENHAUS is a regular public format that takes place every month in ZK/U, inviting audiences to connect with the hosted projects and to explore the process of its residency program.

Don’t miss the opportunity to meet the artists and researchers in residence and explore ZK/U’s space and surroundings, to ask questions, to discuss and to exchange ideas about ongoing projects and artistic practices.

Programme:
19.00-22.30 Open studios, installations & food

Between January and May I will slowly build up a large interactive, architectural installation. Looking at the history of decorated tiles – from the Middle East to Europe and back – I will tell the story of migration, refuge and forms of colonialism but also of mutual cultural exchange. As part of my larger practice, this project will look at urban cycles of building and destruction, and the attempts of migrant communities to rebuild their homes in a new place. The interactive nature of the installation asks the viewers to experience the piece through their body, and to imagine possibilities of movement and change in seemingly immobile structures.

The Instagram Drawings series reflect on using digital platforms as ways to look back at traditional and emotionally charged processes, to portray contemporary culture. Please find attached a couple of drawings made at last years's Documenta in Kassel. I would like to propose showing 10 of these drawings, which would be uploaded to instagram to a specific account which will be accessible online and also physical samples of the drawings displayed on frames on a wall.
