OPENHAUS JANUARY 2026

Open studios, performance, video, installation and resident talks

22 JANUARY 2026 / 19:00 – 23:00

ZK/U BerlinSiemensstr. 27, 10551, Berlin, Germany

OPENHAUS is an open-studio format that takes place every second month in ZK/U, inviting artists in residence and current project partners to open their studios to the public. It offers a unique opportunity to experience the diverse interests and creative processes of the artists, reflected in their own personal studios.

Presenting installations, video, audio and photo works, the residents dive into the past, examining memories, loss and fragility. They are guided by themes of metamorphosis and queerness or the tensions between labour and automation. You can see work that is rooted in local landscapes like the Teufelsberg or tracing non-human migration routes, as a method to gain a better understanding of human migration.

During this OPENHAUS we will also welcome a new "resident": The Statue of Peace “Ari”, formerly located at the corner of Birkenstraße and Emdener Straße. The statue was initiated by the “Comfort Women” Working Group of the Korea Verband e. V. and will be part of the residency for one year. Encounters with international artists open up a wide range of perspectives on questions of memory, violence, responsibility, and social coexistence – without seeking to standardize or harmonize them.

Rather than showcasing final results, OPENHAUS focuses on works-in-progress, allowing you to interact with the artists and learn about their artistic journey. This participatory and informal format invites the public to delve into the behind-the-scenes and engage with the work on a more personal level. It is a chance for both the artists and the community to connect and share ideas.

This OPENHAUS coincides with Moving Future Loves – An Interactive Intervention by FHP. What might the futures of love look like? Students from the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam in the fields of design and European media studies invite you to explore possible answers. At various stations, you are invited to reflect, dream, participate, and discuss – between personal thoughts and shared ideas of connection and intimacy.
