The Misemono-Yatai is a mobile German-Japanese exhibition space for contemporary art in public spaces, which will make its German debut at the mowe Festival 2026. With its distinctive, smiling architecture, visible from afar and inspired by Japanese street stalls as social meeting places, the Yatai invites festival-goers, local residents and passers-by to discover art outside institutional contexts and engage in conversation with one another. The project was launched in Tokyo in 2012 by Berlin-based artist Tatjana Preuss and moved to Berlin in 2024 following a tour of western and central Japan.
