Radio Making Workshop

10 OCTOBER 2026 / 11:00 – 17:00

ZK/U BerlinSiemensstr. 27, 10551, Berlin, Germany

Local Voices, Global Airwaves is a one-day production workshop inviting neighbours and interested participants to explore radio as an accessible medium for shared stories, voices and sound. Participants will learn the basics of radio production: how a program is structured, how voice and atmosphere work together, and how to record and do simple editing of audio material. Over the course of the workshop, they will develop short radio pieces in small groups, drawing on experiences from Moabit and beyond.

The workshop is public, non-commercial, and aimed at people with an interest in radio and basic experience in sound production. As part of ZK/U’s programme for neighbourhood culture and urban practice, it creates space for exchange, collective listening and the strengthening of participants’ own voices.

Program

11:00 – 11:30 Welcome and introduction to radio as a medium
11:30 – 12:15 Listening examples and discussion of different radio formats

No special prior experience is required, but an interest in radio and basic experience in sound production are appreciated. A willingness to engage actively in the workshop is important. Participants who are open to future collaboration and further radio-related work are especially welcome.

The workshop will be led by Soheil Soheili. The Berlin-based musician, label manager, and radio producer works at the intersection of sound, image, and text.

This event is part of the “Neighborhood at ZK/U” series and is supported by funding from the program "Sozialer Zusammenhalt".
