JASSA Wasser is a choral performance project that allows water to be experienced as a resonant, political and poetic space.

In traditional, contemporary and modern works – accompanied by viola, electroacoustic distortions and scenic elements – water encounters us as river, sea, ice and memory: as habitat, boundary, mirror and resistance.

The musical images range from flow and standstill to mythical water figures, folk songs and colonial narratives to current ecological issues such as the drying up of lakes and man-made changes to natural cycles.

In exchange with scientists, insights into the physical, ecological and social dimensions of water are gained, which flow directly into the concert. In this way, water becomes audible from a human perspective – as a free, uncontrollable and at the same time vulnerable element to which we, who consist of 80% water, also belong.
