QM Beusselstraße and QM Moabit-Ost cordially invite you to a screening of the film “Gurbet is a home now”!

The documentary film by artist Pınar Öğrenci combines impressive archive footage, poetry, and music to highlight the impact of the urban renewal policies of the 1980s in Kreuzberg on the realities of life for the migrants living there. The focus is on the perspectives of women and their perceptions in the overlapping spaces of home, street, and work. Öğrenci is not only concerned with reflecting on and contextualizing the complex history of migration from Turkey to Germany, but also with highlighting the formative influence of urban planning measures on people's everyday lives.

Following the film, there will be a discussion with the artist herself at 20:00. The film is in German, English, and Turkish with English and Turkish subtitles. Admission is free, so come on by!
