GÜTERMARKT #43

A place for sustainability, creativity, and community
07 SEPTEMBER 2025 / 11:00 – 19:00
ZK/U BerlinSiemensstr. 27, 10551, Berlin, Germany
From second-hand treasures and handmade designs to upcycling ideas and creative workshops, the Gütermarkt brings people, things, and ideas together. Whether on the urban rooftop terrace overlooking Westhafen or in the diverse indoor areas, the market invites visitors to linger, discover, and get involved. Visitors can expect a mix of flea market stalls, homemade products, culinary offerings, and a varied program of music, performances, and hands-on activities.
In addition to workshops such as a color exploration in the city by Ort-Schafft-Material, and practical offerings by Baufachfrau Berlin e.V., there are also cultural highlights: the performance “The Rewilding Of Uncle Dad” by Bait combines theater with sound performance, and there will be wild dancing at a Lindy Hop Swing workshop on the rooftop terrace.
The day will be accompanied by concerts from the band Slipper, Ellie Feather, and the Moabiter Küchenchor, who will ring in the afternoon on the roof or in the hall.
At the same time, the Berlin Bicycle Market will be taking place—a great opportunity to discover a used bicycle or suitable spare parts.

Performance/Dance/Theater by Bait: The Rewilding Of Uncle Dad
The Rewilding Of Uncle Dad is a site-specific walking performance. Participants listen on headphones to a soundscape layered with live and pre-recorded sounds and instructions, walking through a predetermined route, with their gaze and experience being guided by the performance duo Bait. The synchronicities which emerge invite participants to ‘rewild’ their perceptions, experience and expectations.
The fictional/biographical ‘uncle dad’ is cast as a symbol of crumbling power structures – he is a ‘boomer’ stuck in the never-ending cycle of commuting and work. Bait asks what our relationships to these power structures and patterns are at both a conscious and an unconscious level. They draw on their personal biographies and their father’s experience of dementia and retirement.
The world we grew up in no longer exists. ‘Uncle Dad’ sketches an allegory of the collapse of late stage capitalism and asks what possibilities does this ‘rewilding’ offer. Bait propose this simple, communal act of being, listening, and moving together – an invitation to truly relate to what we are feeling and experiencing in real time, to reimagine the urban landscape as ‘wilderness’ and engage with the unexpected in an act of resistance.

Concert Moabiter Küchenchor
What began as a musical experiment in a WG kitchen in Moabit has developed into a genuine choir project with many voices and great passion: the ‘Moabiter Küchenchor’. The space between the stove and refrigerator is no longer sufficient—rehearsals are now held every Wednesday at ZK/U. The choir will be performing at GÜTERMARKT for the first time this year, and is very excited! You can expect an energetic mix of modern and classic pop songs–captivating, diverse, and filled with the joy of singing together.

Workshop: Exploring color in the city by Ort-Schafft-Material
What colors can be found in the city? What plants grow between paving stones, on the side of the road, or on vacant lots—and how can they be used artistically? Together, we will discover the small resources of urban nature and experiment on site with colors from collected leaves, flowers, or food scraps. Using simple tools and reused materials, we will create individual city portraits in color: open to all age groups.
16:00
Concert by Ellie Feather
Allie Feather is a Ukrainian musician from Berlin who lives in a camper van and performs while traveling. As a singer-songwriter, she blends rock, pop, indie, and jazz into her own unique style. Her voice is both powerful and soft, dreamy and deep, soothing and raw. She is known for her distinctive vocal range and sudden changes in singing style. Her performances often have a theatrical character, with each song feeling like a little story. She is known for transforming public places into stages for her music.
18:00
Concert by Slipper
Slipper is a collaboration between Rachel Taylor (Rocky Lorelei) and Sean Armstrong – two singer-songwriters who combine a selection of their solo work under this name and accompany each other on guitar, bass guitar, and with gentle vocal harmonies. They live in Berlin and release their music through Rehberge Records, a DIY cassette label they founded in 2022. Both are former members of Spinning Coin (Glasgow) and have been making music together since 2016 – live and in the studio.
