Conference of International Residency Programs

26 JUNE 2026 / 10:00–18:00

ZK/U BerlinSiemensstr. 27, 10551, Berlin, Germany

The Working Group of German International Residency Programs (ADIR) invites to the first nationwide conference of international residency programs. For the first time, residency programs based in Germany will come together to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and develop shared perspectives for the future.

Under the title Creative Shelters on a Temporary Basis, the conference focuses on residencies as spaces of protection and possibility for artists. How can they provide safety, enable international mobility, and respond to social, political, and institutional challenges?

The conference opens with a keynote by Rachel Cohen (University of Chicago / American Academy in Berlin Fellow 2026). Throughout the day, thematic sessions, collaborative formats, and open exchanges will shape the program, creating space for networking, knowledge-sharing, and new collaborations.

Participation is also open to non-members of the ADIR network. Purchasing a ticket to cover catering costs is mandatory.
