Assembly 03: Monetary Systems

Convivial Commons Assembly
23 JULY 2026 / 18:00–23:00
ZK/U BerlinSiemensstr. 27, 10551, Berlin, Germany
The third iteration of the Convivial Commons Assembly focuses on monetary systems and the different forms of value, exchange, and mutual support through which collective projects can be organised. Building on the insights gained from experimenting with voting systems during the second Assembly, this session takes the next step towards shaping the ZK/U Friends Summer Festival on 13 September.
Between 18:00 and 20:00, participants collectively develop the festival programme, connect existing proposals, and explore what is needed to put them into practice. At the centre of the session is the question of what alternatives to conventional monetary exchange might look like. Through practical experiments with non-monetary systems—such as a time bank—the Assembly investigates how cooperation, shared resources, and mutual support can become integral parts of the festival.
More-than-human species will also intervene in the process: commenting, advising, and ultimately helping to shape the summer gathering alongside their human collaborators.
