Valérie Potvin

(Canada)

Valérie Potvin lives and works between Canada and Germany. Her practice includes sculptural installations, public art, and video. She creates large-scale, immersive, and in situ projects that challenge viewers’ perceptions while engaging with social, environmental, political, and feminist issues. Through the metaphorical worlds she creates, she explores corporeality, power relations, and the tension between vulnerability and resistance, raising critical questions and highlighting urgent ethical concerns.

She holds an interdisciplinary master’s degree in arts as well as a bachelor’s degree in visual arts from Université Laval in Canada. Her research has been supported by numerous institutions and has received awards across Canada. She currently collaborates with Galerie Chiguer Art Contemporain (Québec City and Montreal).

Her work has been presented at the National Museum of Fine Arts of Quebec (Canada), SESC Pinheiros in São Paulo (Brazil), and the Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington, North Carolina (USA), among others.
