Klein’s work deals primarily with complex systems that are transferred in (performative) conceptual ways - in a subtle yet interactive form. Many of the interventions that he records in his notebook remain a pure statement. At least that is what he says. Amongst others, he is fascinated by the work of Niklas Luhman, Crass, Gernot Böhme and Edition LMd.
Stefan Klein holds a Master in Sociology and received a Master in Fine Arts from the Public Arts and New Artistic Strategies Program at the Bauhaus University in Weimar. He has exhibited in various group and solo exhibitions internationally, amongst others Berlin Biennale (2016), Galerie Daniel Marzona (2017), Kunsthalle Tropical, Island (2016), Berliner Herbstsalon (2015). His work can be found in collections like No Show Museum, Johannesburg,; MoMa, NY; Joan Flasch Artists' Book Collection, Chicago. He is also a founding member and runs the independent publishing house VERLAK and works for the Edmund Feslon Gallery.
