Ricardo Carioba is a Brazilian visual and sound artist based in Berlin. His artistic practice is marked by the questions raised by the concretist tradition in Brazil and its non-representational approach to visual production. His works aim to build abstract spaces and non-discursive imagery in order to explore the deconstruction of the syntax of our aesthetic experience and to open space to new forms of thinking and relating to the world. Ricardo is also interested in the problem of visual production as a tool for alienation and social control. Aiming to investigate the political conditions of visual production, his video installations, paintings, sound pieces and photographs attempt to produce images not already predicted by image-making apparatuses.
