Ngminvielu Kuuire is a Ghanaian multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans photography, digital art, and filmmaking. Based in Accra, her work investigates established social systems concerning identity, memory, sexuality, mental health, and gender roles within the Ghanaian context. Through deeply personal and symbolic storytelling, she creates evocative visuals that invite viewers to confront complex emotions and embrace vulnerability.
Kuuire’s work serves as a call to freedom; the autonomy to exist, speak, and feel without restraint. Her recent explorations into Dagara culture and the materiality of cowries further position the body as a living archive of memory and grief.
In 2017, she was awarded the Portraits Ghana Photography Prize, organized by the Embassy of the Netherlands and Nuku Studio. She was also recognized as a top ten finalist for the Kuenyehia Art Prize for Contemporary Art in 2018. Her documentary and contemporary work continues to be showcased internationally, bridging the gap between traditional heritage and modern lived experience.
