Laura Gorski

(Brazil)

Laura Gorski, graduated in Design by the São Paulo Belas Artes University Center, was born in 1982 in São Paulo (Brazil), the city where she lives and works. She held several national and international exhibitions which stands out the solo shows Archipelago of Imaginary Places (Estúdio Buck, São Paulo, BR, 2013) and Stoppage (Zipper Galeria, São Paulo, BR 2011) and the group shows Arise (João Cocteu, Berlin, Germany, 2012), 11th Art Salon Jataí (MAC Jataí, Goiás, BR, 2012) in which she received special mention of the jury, Boîte Invaliden (Galerie Invaliden1, Berlin, Germany, 2011), X Recôncavo Biennial (Dannemann Cultural Center, São Felix, Bahia, BR, 2010) in which was awarded the acquisition prize. In 2012 she took part in an Artistic Residency Program at Fundação Bienal de Cerveira, Portugal, where she will participate of the 17th Cerveira Biennial (2013).

The relationship between drawing, space and landscape is one of the most important research subjects in Laura’s work. In her latest projects, she have been working with the idea of constructed, displaced and imaginary landscapes considering its broader concept:

"Landscape is the image resulting from the synthesis of all the elements present in a certain place." 
"Landscape is a territorial space covered by the look." 
"The landscape is a tangible result of all processes, both natural and humanized in a certain location.”
