Jana Nunčič is a freelancing alternative theatre director and scenographer. She focuses on authorial and object theatre, puppetry, alternative and site-specific projects. She works a lot with visual and sound narrativity, making prepared objects as part of the sounding happening. She employs devising principles to create immersive sound installations, visual and sound-based performances and interactive theatre experiences. She holds a bcA. in Fine Arts (Sl) and MgA. in directing of alternative theatre from Prague - DAMU. Her last projects have been: Exit (2022) by Fekete Seretlek and Studio Damuza, that played internationally, got awarded for New forms and best scenography in Pierrot puppet festival Bulgaria and best music in CZ. Approximate (2022) premiered in New Opera Days Ostrava festival and De-Approximate - experimental opera (2022) premiered in Alfred ve Dvoře CZ. In December 2023 she was performing Cycle of things, a 1:1 performance in Sao Paulo Performance Festival and Balanc. Both are sound amplification and focus based performances. In 2024 Jana is going to showcase her work in Stockholm Fringe with a solo performance created there and specifically for the place in August 2024, and is directing the performance POLO with support of Nová Sít as well as the performance Tin House for puppet theatre Ljubljana, premiering in 2025.
