My interest is in the intersection of the memory of a site and one’s own past memories. Balancing intuition with research, I work in a situation-specific and material sensitive manner; therefore using a variety of media (animation, performance, sculpture, drawings, etc.). By means of associative thinking and intertextuality, seemingly irrelevant fragments of memory are transformed into narratives that range from the absurd to the grim. The connectedness of singular/personal memory with social/collective memory serves as a curious territory to practice turning the limits we encounter into chances.Graduated from the sculpture department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 2000, Kavcar received her MFA from San Francisco Art Institute (2003) on a Fulbright scholarship, and PhD from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (2011).
