Emma Gamble

(United Kingdom)

Emma Gamble is a visual artist whose current practice is concerned with the unknown and the inexperiencible.

Through repetitive, obsessive processes that employ and manipulate the imagery, audio and language of the familiar, Gamble attempts to gain an understanding or conscious experience of the unknown.

Her projects are often durational, involving the creation of multiple versions of unrealised experiences or events in a searching of truth/refinement. The results are ever growing archives of documentation, sound and image that seldom achieve a natural end point or resolve.

Gamble was born in 1986 in Northern Ireland and currently lives and works in Nottingham, England. Since graduating from Loughborough University's School of Art & Design in 2009, she has exhibited both nationally and internationally at venues including Mall Galleries (London), Brick Lane Gallery (London) and Studio X (Mumbai). Her work is held in permanent collection at Space 118 (Mumbai) and Studio X (Mumbai).

Gamble is the co-founder and assistant curator of Bohunk Institute (Nottingham).
