Edoardo Bonacina

(Italy)

Edoardo Bonacina (b. 2001) is an Italian artist based between Como and Milan. He recently completed an M.A. in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies at NABA Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan, where he previously earned a B.A. in Painting and Visual Arts. His practice focuses on large-format photography and participatory image-making as tools for investigating the cultural, symbolic, and material dimensions of everyday objects and metropolitan spaces.

Through interdisciplinary collaborations with researchers, industrial partners, and practitioners from the social sciences, his work explores photography's potential to challenge established systems of representation and develop more sustainable ways of interpreting the environment.

His projects have been presented at institutions including MAXXI  National Museum of 21st Century Arts in Rome, Triennale Milano, Care/of, Fabbrica del Vapore, Spazio Gallucci, Milano Cadorna Station, and Casa del Fascio in Como. He has participated in research-based programs such as the XXVIII CSAV Artists' Research Laboratory of Fondazione Antonio Ratti, Dolomiti Contemporanee at Borca di Cadore, and the Interreg Italy–Croatia AWASTER project. He is co-founder of Spazio_Lucido, an artistic collective founded together with artist Caterina Perego, focused on shared processes of exploration, the overcoming of individual authorship, and the reactivation of underused spaces through collaborative research. The collective is currently developing “Capriccio,” an artist residency and exhibition project at Canonica di San Salvatore in Lecco. His work has recently been shortlisted for the Premio Mila Fondo Malerba per la Fotografia Contemporanea and received an Honourable Mention at the Premio Raccont'Arti at Castel Fiorentino.
