Alya Sebti

Alya Sebti is the director of ifa-Galerie in Berlin (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen). Her curatorial practice includes exhibitions but also investigates the format of Biennale as an intercultural meeting place. In 2020 she was co-curator of Manifesta in Marseille, in 2018 guest curator for the Dakar Biennial and in 2014 she was the artistic director of the 5th edition of the Marrakesh Biennial. 

She has curated several exhibitions including: invisible at Musee de l’IFAN in Dakar, Kolmanskop Dream, the solo exhibition by Pascale Marthine Tayou (ifa Galerie, Berlin, 2017), Casablanca, Energie Noire as part of Mons 2015 – European Capital of Culture, Now Eat My Script at KW Institute for Contemporary Art Berlin (2015). She has written and lectured on art and the public sphere, about biennials and transcultural art practices at venues including: Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin; Thessaloniki Biennale (GR); University of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin; International Academy of Salzburg (Austria); New York University, Berlin; Le Cube Art Centre, Rabat. 

Alya Sebti advises as a mentor the curatorial research of TURN2 Resident  Ken Aicha Sy at ZK/U Berlin.
