Araf ist die Geschichte von Nayia, einer in Bosnien reisenden, geisterhaften Figur. Seit dem Krieg war sie im Exil und kehrt nun zu den Feierlichkeiten zum 22. Jahrestag des Genozids von Srebrenica zurück. Der Film entwickelt sich entlang ihrer Tagebucheinträge, die mit dem Mythos von Dädalus und Ikarus verschmelzen. Anhand von Nayias Geschichte untersucht Araf die Widersprüche von Weggang und Wiederkehr, von konstantem Terror und permanentem Stillstand und die Reibung zwischen Vertreibung und Permanenz. Die Filmemacherin und derzeitige ZK/U Residentin, Didem Pekün wurde 1978 in Istanbul, Türkei geboren. Ihre Arbeit beschäftigt sich hauptsächlich mit der Herstellung von Subjektivität innerhalb von Gewaltgeografien, Vertreibung und verschiedenen Formen ihrer Repräsentation in Bewegtbildern. Film Screening Araf by current ZK/U- Residency Didem Pekün at 68. Berlinale

Araf is an essayistic road movie and diary of a ghostly character, Nayia, who travels between in Bosnia. She has been in exile since the war and returns for the 22nd memorial of the Srebrenica genocide. The film is guided by her diary notes of the journey, which merge with the myth of Daedalus and Icarus. Araf thus traces these paradoxes through Nayia’s displacement and her return to her home country post-war – that of a constant terror and a permanent standstill, and the friction between displacement and permanence.
Filmmaker and current Resident at ZK/U Didem Pekün was born in 1978 in Istanbul, Turkey. Conceptually her work deals with the production of subjectivities within violent geographies, displacement, and the different forms they take on screen.

Ankündigung #2: 16/03/ - 25/03/2018: Ausstellung "Hacking Urban Furniture"
Ausstellung “Hacking Urban Furniture”, ZK/UVom 16. bis 25. März 2018 findet im ZK/U die Ausstellung „Hacking Urban Furniture“ statt. Sie ist Teil des gleichnamigen mehrjährigen Forschungsprojekts und beschäftigt sich experimentell mit der Geschichte, Gegenwart und Zukunft von Stadtmobiliar (engl. ‘urban furniture’). KünstlerInnen, StadtforscherInnen, PolitikerInnen und AktivistInnen erforschen gemeinsam das Potential von neuen Konzepten öffentlicher Stadtmöblierung. Die Ausstellung wird vom Hauptstadtkulturfonds gefördert.
Wir freuen uns, die teilnehmenden KünstlerInnen und Künstlergruppen/Architekturkollektive der “Hacking Urban Furniture” Ausstellung vorzustellen: Markus Ambach, Christian Hasucha, Umschichten, Raumlabor und KUNSTrePUBLIK. Die Projekte von KUNSTrePUBLIK entstanden in Kooperation mit AbBA (Allianz bedrohter Berliner Atelierhäuser), Refunc, OpenBerlin und der Technischen Hochschule Wildau.
Ebenso werden die GewinnerInnen des Ideenwettbewerbs für neue Konzepte von Stadtmöblierung ausgestellt: Fiete Rhode & Team: KIEZding, Benoit Maubrey: Arena: a Speakers Sculpture, Andreas Templin: Berlin Dough, Adam Page und Eva Hertzsch: Executive Box. Letztere zeigen ihre Arbeit auf dem Freigelände des ZK/U, sie wird als Langzeitinstallation bis Ende Oktober zu sehen sein. Unsere Gäste sind die Initiative Berlin Werbefrei zusammen mit Gastbeiträgen der werbefreien Städte Sao Paulo und Grenoble, sowie Martin Binder mit seinem Projekt Safe&Urban. Fred Dewey wird über die “Portable Polis” berichten, die im Sommer letzten Jahres als Hannah Arendt working group grundsätzliche Fragen der Öffentlichkeit an den jeweiligen Orten verhandelte. Vorstellen möchten wir auch die TeilnehmerInnen der begleitenden Forschungsgruppen: Laura Sobral, Benjamin Cope, Mary Dellenbaugh, Surfatial, Jan Bovelet, Joanne Pouzenc und Mobasher Niqui. Eröffnung: 15.03.2018/ 19 Uhr Ausstellung:16.03. bis 25.03.2018 Täglich geöffnet von 12-20 Uhr. Eintritt frei.

Exhibition “Hacking Urban Furniture”, ZK/U
From March 16 to 25, 2018, the exhibition "Hacking Urban Furniture" will take place at the ZK/ U - Center for Art and Urbanistics. The exhibition is part of an ongoing research project of several years with the same name which explores the history, present and future of urban furniture. The exhibition is founded by Hauptstadtkulturfonds.
We are happy to announce the artists and artist collectives participating in the “Hacking Urban Furniture” exhibition: Markus Ambach, Christian Hasucha, Umschichten, Raumlabor and KUNSTrePUBLIK. KUNSTrePUBLIK's projects were created in cooperation with AbBA (Allianz bedrohter Berliner Atelierhäuser), Refunc, OpenBerlin and Technische Hochschule Wildau.
The winners of the ideas competition for new concepts of street furniture will also be exhibited: Fiete Rhode & Team: KIEZding, Benoit Maubrey: Arena: a Speakers Sculpture, Andreas Templin: Berlin Dough, Adam Page and Eva Hertzsch: Executive Box. Adam Page and Eva Hertzsch will show their work at the outdoor space of ZK/U until October.
Our Guests are the Initiative Berlin Werbefrei together with guest contributors from Sao Paulo and Grenoble, both cities without advertising in the urban space, Martin Binder with his diploma work "Safe&Urban". Fred Dewey will report on the "Portable Polis", a Hannah Arendt working group which asked fundamental questions of the public at different locations last summer.
Additionally, we would like to introduce the participants of the scientific research group: Laura Sobral, Benjamin Cope, Mary Dellenbaugh, Surfatial, Jan Bovelet, Joanne Pouzenc and Mobasher Niqui.
