Nach dem Previewwochenende "Commons Cosmodrome" Mitte September, das einen Vorgeschmack auf die Zukunft gegeben hat, wird am ZK/U jetzt die abschließende Bauphase eingeleitet. In den kommenden Monaten werden die letzten Arbeiten am Gebäude vorgenommen. Dazu gehören unter anderem die Installation des Fahrstuhls, Schallschutzmaßnahmen sowie der finale Innenausbau.
Wir freuen uns schon jetzt darauf, ab nächstem Frühjahr das fertiggestellte ZK/U gemeinsam zu erleben. Währenddessen zeigen wir hier und da ein paar Impressionen der Commons Comsodrome Ausstellung.

After the preview weekend "Commons Cosmodrome" in mid-September, which provided a glimpse into the future, the final construction phase at ZK/U has now been initiated.
In the coming months, the remaining work on the building will be carried out. This includes the installation of the elevator, soundproofing measures, and the final interior construction. We are already looking forward to experiencing the completed ZK/U together starting next spring. In the meantime, we are excited to share a few glimpses of the Commons Cosmodrome exhibition here and there.

Das ZK/U nähert sich der Fertigstellung. Im Rahmen des abschließenden Partizipationsprozesses zur Entwicklung der neuen Flächen und Schwerpunkte laden wir Interessierte, Nachbar:innen, Freund:innen und Parkbegeisterte herzlich ein, sich aktiv an diesem Prozess zu beteiligen.

Vom 17. bis 19. Oktober 2024 findet das dreitägige „Kin City“-Festival statt, das sich mit der Frage auseinandersetzt, wie städtischer Raum innerhalb ökologischer Grenzen neu gedacht werden kann. Ein Großteil der Weltbevölkerung lebt mittlerweile in Städten, doch diese sind zunehmend von Bedrohungen wie Verschmutzung, Hitzewellen und steigenden Meeresspiegeln betroffen. Städte sind nicht nur Opfer dieser Entwicklungen, sondern auch Treiber durch ihre Rolle als „Wachstumsmotoren“ im globalen Kapitalismus. Zerstörte Ökosysteme schlagen zurück – etwa durch die zunehmende Gewalt des Klimawandels.

Wie lassen sich Städte als Orte der Zukunft neu erfinden, die sowohl menschliches als auch nicht-menschliches Leben unterstützen? Diese und andere Fragen stehen im Mittelpunkt der Veranstaltung „Kin City“, organisiert von der Berliner Gazette.

The ZK/U is nearing completion. As part of the final participation process for the development of new areas and focal points, we warmly invite interested parties, neighbors, friends, and park enthusiasts to actively engage in this process.

From October 17 to 19, 2024, the three-day "Kin City" festival will take place, exploring how urban space can be reimagined within ecological limits. Much of the world’s population now lives in cities, but these urban areas are increasingly threatened by pollution, heat waves, and rising sea levels. Cities are not only victims of these crises but also drivers, acting as "engines of growth" within the global capitalist system. As ecosystems are devastated, they push back—manifesting in the intensifying impacts of climate change.

How can cities be reinvented as places that support both human and non-human life? These and other questions are at the heart of the "Kin City" event, organized by Berliner Gazette.

Celebrating its jubilee, the “Kin City” festival is organized by BG | berlinergazette.de and funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion, the German Federal Agency for Civic Education/bpb, and Rosa Luxemburg Foundation.

Im Moabiter Stadtgarten entsteht ein Tiny Forest – ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt mit Kiezwald e.V. als Teil eines Klima-Parcours, der am ZK/U aktuell in Entstehung ist. Dabei wird die Frage gestellt: Wie kann der Moabiter Stadtgarten klimaresilienter werden? Verschiedene Projekte entwickeln und testen Lösungen, bei denen Nachbar*innen und Interessierte aktiv eingebunden werden.
Ein Tiny Forest ist ein Miniwald, der nach kurzer Zeit selbstständig wachsen kann und maßgeblich zur Verbesserung von Biodiversität und dem Stadtklima beiträgt. Er bietet nicht nur Erholungsraum, sondern eignet sich auch ideal für Klima- und Umweltbildung.

Kiezwald e.V. hat mit dem Tiny Forest das Ziel, Biodiversität, Erholungsflächen und Klimabildung zu fördern. Stadtnatur soll als Gemeinschaftsprojekt für alle erlebbar werden. Im Frühjahr, am 20. April 2024, wurde die Tiny Forest-Fläche eingeweiht und erste Pflanzen zur Bodenverbesserung auf 115 m² gesät.

Jetzt ist Herbst, und wir freuen uns auf zwei bevorstehende Termine:

Gemeinsam werden wir den Tiny Forest weiter bepflanzen und die Natur vor Ort aktiv gestalten.

A Tiny Forest is being developed in the Moabiter Stadtgarten – a community project in collaboration with Kiezwald e.V. as part of a climate trail currently under construction at the ZK/U. The main question being addressed is: How can the Moabiter Stadtgarten become more climate-resilient? Various projects are working on solutions, actively involving neighbors and interested parties.
A Tiny Forest is a small forest that can sustain itself after a short period and significantly contributes to improving biodiversity and the urban climate. It not only provides a space for relaxation but also serves as an ideal setting for climate and environmental education.

Kiezwald e.V. aims to enhance biodiversity, create recreational spaces, and promote climate education through the Tiny Forest. Urban nature is meant to be experienced as a community project for everyone. In the spring, on April 20, 2024, the Tiny Forest area was inaugurated, and plants for soil improvement were sown over 115 m².
