Ein Workshop der Künstlerinnengruppe Moabees – Elisa Dierson, Bärbel Rothhaar, Katja Marie Voigt – in Fusion mit der Insektenköchin Nicole Sartirani // Mikrokosmos Berlin.

Honig schmeckt Menschen und Bären seit Tausenden von Jahren. Er ist koscher, er ist halal und in Deutschland ist sein Verkauf lebensmittelrechtlich sehr genau in der Honigverordnung (kurz: HonigV) geregelt. Wie steht es nun mit Bienenfleisch in der Küche? In diesem Workshop verarbeiten und verzehren wir Insekten. Wir werden speziell Drohnenbrut – die Larven und Puppen männlicher Honigbienen – pulen, zubereiten und essen!

„Für geschätzte zwei Milliarden Menschen sind Käfer, Maden oder Heuschrecken traditionell ein Teil ihrer Nahrung. Sie liefern wertvolle Vitamine, Mineralstoffe und viel Protein.“ (Aus dem Insektenatlas der Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung 2020.) Derzeit sind in der EU vier Insektenspezies als Lebensmittel zugelassen: Mehlwürmer, Wanderheuschrecken, Buffalowürmer und Hausgrillen. Es gibt Bemühungen, auch Drohnenbrut zuzulassen. Ein Grund dafür ist, dass viele Imker*innen im Frühjahr als Maßnahme gegen die Varroamilbe ohnehin einen Teil der Drohnenbrut aus dem Bienenstock entfernen. Statt diese zu entsorgen, kann man sie auch zubereiten. Zumal sie laut Nicole die leckersten Insekten sind, die es zu essen gibt!

A workshop of the group of artists Moabees - Elisa Dierson, Bärbel Rothhaar, Katja Marie Voigt - in collaboration with the insect chef Nicole Sartirani // Mikrokosmos Berlin.

Honey has been beloved from people and bears for thousands of years. It is kosher, it is halal and in Germany its sale is regulated very precisely in the Honigverordnung(HonigV). What about bee meat in the kitchen? In this workshop we process and eat insects. We will especially shell, prepare and eat drone brood - the larvae and pupae of male honey bees!

"For an estimated two billion people, beetles, maggots or grasshoppers are traditionally part of their diet. They provide valuable vitamins, minerals and lots of protein." (From the Insect Atlas of the Heinrich Böll Foundation 2020.) Currently, four insect species are approved as food in the EU: Mealworms, locusts, buffalo worms and domestic crickets. There are efforts to allow drone brood as well. One reason for this is that many beekeepers* in spring remove part of the drone brood from the hive anyway as a measure against the varroa mite. Instead of disposing of them, they can also be prepared. Especially since, according to Nicole, they are the most delicious insects to eat!

Es fällt schwer, Updates über das Projekt GROUNDED URBAN PRACTICES (GUP) zu liefern, da es sich um ein Rechercheprojekt handelt. Die bisherigen Veranstaltungen im Rahmen des Projekts waren intern. 

In The Future of Grounded Urban Practices wollen wir kompakt und informell unsere Forschungsergebnisse teilen ­­­– und zwar als digitaler Livestream. Am 17.09.2020 (17-19 Uhr) ist es soweit!

Das Projekt befasst sich mit vier Fragen: dem Kontext und den Bedingungen der Entstehung von GUPs; den rechtlichen und finanziellen Modellen und der Organisationsstruktur, die sie anwenden; den Strategien, Methoden und Instrumenten, die sie einsetzen; und den Herausforderungen und Risiken, denen sie in Bezug auf ihre Nachhaltigkeit ausgesetzt sind.

Das Treffen wird von ZK/U, CLUSTER (Kairo) und Non-fiction (Amsterdam) organisiert.

In the past, it has proven tricky to deliver updates regarding the project GROUNDED URBAN PRACTICES (GUP) due to it's nature as a research project.

Now, you can join in: The Future of Grounded Urban Practices is a discursive dialogue session co-organized by ZK/U, Berlin, CLUSTER, Cairo, and Non-fiction, Amsterdam that will be made publicly available as a live stream! Save the date: September 17, 2020 from 5-9 p.m.!

The project addressed four questions: the context and condition of their emergence; the legal and financial models and organizational structure they adopt; the strategies, methods and tools they deploy; and the challenges and risks facing their sustainability.

Im Juli hatten wir bereits die Nominierung des Modellprojekts Haus der Statistik für den polis Award bekannt gegeben ­– heute folgt die erfreuliche Nachricht, dass das Projekt mit dem Preis in der Kategorie "Soziale Quartiersentwicklung" ausgezeichnet wurde!

Der polis Award würdigt Projekte, die über ihren eigenen Rahmen hinaus einen Beitrag für das öffentliche Wohl einer Stadt erbringen. Dazu erklärt die Staatssekretärin in der Senatsverwaltung für Stadtentwicklung und Wohnen Regula Lüscher für die Kooperationspartner des Projekts, Koop5: „Wir freuen uns über diese Auszeichnung und sind stolz. Das Haus der Statistik ist ein gelungenes Beispiel für eine neue Form des Stadt Machens. Im Dialog und in Kooperation, in Aushandlungsprozessen und auf Augenhöhe entwickelt sich mitten im Zentrum von Berlin eine große Vision.“ 

ZK/U ist Teil der ZUsammenKUNFT Berlin eG (ZKB), einer der Kooperationspartner der sogenannten Koop5. Die fünf Kooperationspartner arbeiten zusammen an der gemeinwohlorientierten Quartiersentwicklung. Wir freuen uns sehr, dass das Modellprojekt Haus der Statistik unter den Gewinnern ist.

Already in July, we had announced that the model project Haus der Statistik had been nominated for the polis award. Today, we're happy to announce that Haus der Statistik could take home the award in the category "social district development"!

The polis award honours projects that exceed their own frame in improving public wellbeing in the city. 
For that, the secraty of state in the Berlin Senate Department for Urban Development and Housing Regula Rüscher names the partners of the project, Koop5: "We are delighted for this award and are very proud. Haus der Statistik is an excellent example for a new form of shaping the city. In dialogue as well as in cooperation, in negotiation and as equal partners, there is a large vision unfolding in the middle of Berlin".

ZK/U is part of ZUsammenKUNFT Berlin eG (ZKB) and one of the cooperation partners of socalled Koop5. The 5 cooperation partners are collaborating in a form of district development that strives for the common good. We are enthralled to see the model project Haus der Statistik among the list of awardees.

Mit Picnic-Decke und Radio bewaffnet lässt es sich im September aushalten. Live DJ Sets, Lesungen und Performances erklingen von der Terrasse des ZK/U Berlin. Auf der selben musikalischen Wellenlänge kann man auch mit Abstand zusammenkommen. Bei freiem Eintritt, mit mitgebrachter Versorgung und im Idealfall mit mitgebrachtem Radio. Wer keins hat kann sich, in begrenzter Stückzahl, ein Radio leihen.

Beim OPEN PARK HAUS im August stand Picnic FM zum ersten Mal auf unserer Terrasse und beglückte uns mit ihrer Live-Sendung. Am 04.09.2020 gibt es bereits die zweite Ausgabe, Picnic FM #2.

Außerdem wird Picnic FM (unter Vorbehalt) im September noch an drei weiteren Terminen unsere Terrasse bespielen.

During OPEN PARK HAUS August, Picnic FM first took stage on our terrace. The next edition – Picnic FM #2 – is following on Friday, September 4.

ZK/U Berlin gratuliert dem Kulturzentrum “Fünfter Stock” - unserem offiziellen Partner für CETKA mit Sitz in Kirov, RU - mit dem Preis Innovation 2020, der am 25. August 2020 in Nizhny Novgorod verliehen wurde. Die Aufgabe des Preises besteht darin, Autoren, die im Bereich der zeitgenössischen Kunst arbeiten, zu unterstützen, die wichtigsten künstlerischen Errungenschaften zu ermitteln und die Aufmerksamkeit der breiten Öffentlichkeit auf sie zu lenken.

Das Kulturzentrum “Fünfter Stock” durchläuft derzeit eine wichtige Phase seiner Aktivitäten. Nach den Schwierigkeiten, die mit der Quarantänezeit verbunden waren, der Notwendigkeit, den alten Ort auf der Suche nach einem neuen Raum zu verlassen, ist es sehr wichtig, sich unterstützt zu fühlen, sich in eine gemeinsame Sache, einen gemeinsamen Reflexionsprozess, eine Manifestation der modernen Kultur einzubringen. Das neue Projekt, die Ausstellung “Architektur”, ist eine weitere Gelegenheit, sich zu vereinen, um etwas zu schaffen. Gemeinsam ein kulturelles Ereignis zu machen, den Kunstprozess zu unterstützen, der Stadt eine weitere Gelegenheit zu geben, über Kunst nachzudenken und zu sprechen.

Zwischen den anderen Preisträger*innen waren auch unsere Kolleg*innen von DK Rosa (Teilnehmer*innen STATISTA Konferenz, Sept 2019) und von dem Goethe-Institut Nowosibirsk.

ZK/U Berlin congratulates the Fifth Floor Cultural Centre - our official partner for CETKA based in  Kirov, RU - with the The Innovation 2020 Prize, which has been awarded on 25 August 2020 in Nizhny Novgorod. The prize's mission is to support authors working in the field of contemporary art, to identify the most important artistic achievements and to draw the attention of the general public to them.

The Fifth Floor Cultural Centre is currently going through an important period in its activities. After the difficulties associated with the quarantine period, the need to move out of the old place in search of a new space, it is very important to feel supported, involved in a common cause, a common process of reflection, a manifestation of modern culture. The new project, the exhibition “Architecture”, is another opportunity to unite in order to create. To make a cultural event together, to support the art process, to give the city another opportunity to think and talk about art.

Amongst other award winners are our colleagues from DK Rosa (participated in STATISTA Conference, Sept 2019) and from Goethe-Institut Novosibirsk.

Ki Hyun Park (team member of ZK/U or the former resident artist of ZK/U) will take part in Gegenwarten | Presences with ZONA D at Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz. 

All projects of the exhibition GEGENWARTEN | PRESENCES are always accessible to the public free of charge at various locations around the city.

"Public art can influence entire cities and encourage dialogue about art between residents and visitors alike. The new exhibition “Gegenwarten | Presences”, comparable to the “Sculpture Projects Münster”, will present a selection of artistic pieces which has the potential to attract national and even international attention.
Chemnitz has a long tradition of presenting socially relevant art in public space. Even today numerous artworks are still permanently displayed in public areas, many of which were created during the years of communist East Germany. Numerous smaller-sized projects and exhibitions in recent years have demonstrated the city’s unflagging interest in visible public artwork.
Individual artists and collectives, such as the atelier le balto and the Observatorium Rotterdam, which intensively study prospective sites and work closely with the local inhabitants, are invited to create new works for public display in the city of Chemnitz. The artworks are primarily intended for areas in downtown Chemnitz and the surrounding quarters where the city’s industrial history, as well as infrastructural and socio-economic changes have made their mark over the 30 years since the end of the GDR. The exhibition route will be open between June and September 2020 and include more than 20 sites and stations. Many of the sculptures, installations, performances and participative projects will forge connections between visual and performing arts, literature, fashion and design."
