They Say I'm Dead

Performance night
28 MAY 2026 / 20:00
ZK/U BerlinSiemensstr. 27, 10551, Berlin, Germany
John Seung-Hwan Lee performs frottage on three surfaces across the site—a wall bearing bullet holes from the 1945 Battle of Berlin, the depot floor, and an arched window sill—using handmade pastel blocks strapped to his forehead, forearm, and ankle. Drawing on Mbembe's Critique of Black Reason, he approaches these surfaces as sites inhabited by the ghosts of modernity: bodies that violence has reduced to shadow and matter.
John's performance starts at 20:00.
Jungin Hwang researches figures who mediate between life and death—shamans, ritual sound, and the threshold between worlds. This inquiry takes form as a durational performance incorporating drumming and sound, dwelling in the space where the living and the dead are not yet fully separated.
Jungin's performance starts at 21:00.
An event by ZK/U in cooperation with Körber-Stiftung.
