Since 2014, Privatoper Berlin has been transforming unusual venues into stages for rarely heard operas. Its concept is based on a direct, original approach to music theater – opera by friends for friends. In this atmosphere of creative freedom, experiments and discoveries are possible.
The private opera has set itself the task of reviving almost forgotten compositions, reinterpreting well-known works and daring to stage world premieres. It creates spaces in which artists and audiences can meet as equals and share new musical experiences.

In 2024, Privatoper Berlin is bringing Joseph Woelfl's Das schöne Milchmädchen oder Der Guckkasten back to the stage after 225 years. Under the direction of Ramona Bartsch and the musical direction of Lars Straehler-Pohl, this long-forgotten work is brought back to life.
