EMBODIED MEMORIES. Variations on Armenian Contemporary Art

Discoursive and visual art program curated by Tigran Amiryan and CSN Lab with artist talks, book presentation, film screening and a Q&A session
24 SEPTEMBER 2025 / starting 19:00
ZK/U BerlinSiemensstr. 27, 10551, Berlin, Germany
This edition of FOOD & FOOTAGE reflects on memory and (non)representations of the body in contemporary art as spaces of resistance and care. The evening presents the new book Memory of the Body (CSN Lab collective, 2025), brought from Yerevan to Berlin, with co-authors Arsen Abrahamyan, Mariam Yeghiazaryan, and Tigran Amiryan examining how bodies carry social and political memory — from Soviet to queer bodies, from pleasure to trauma, in post-war contexts and through decolonization.
Queer and feminist artists Amassia Niziblian (project corpo-real) and lucine talalyan (film postDiY) present works tracing how bodies remember what is erased from public space and media.
The program includes artist talks, queer film screening, and book presentation by Armenian memory activists. Traditional Armenian treats by a queer chef from Café Arakil will be served during the event, including gata, baklava, and tahini bread.

CSN Lab is a Yerevan-based collective of researchers and cultural practitioners working at the intersection of memory activism and cultural rights. Contributors include curator and anthropologist Tigran Amiryan, urban and memory activist Arsen Abrahamyan, researcher and filmmaker Mariam Yeghiazaryan, visual artist Amassia Niziblian, and interdisciplinary artist lucine talalyan.
