Dimitar Milev

(Macedonia)

Dimitar Milev is an interdisciplinary architect and urban planner from Skopje, North Macedonia, with a heavy interest in researching spatial-social relations of the urban contexts, stage and exhibition designs, and working with different types of media to explore the research even further.

He is an active member of the Scene Laboratory for Spatial Research (under the organization Faculty for Things That Can't Be Learned -FRU) taking up multiple roles including but not limited to education, research, design, and creative production.
Since 2021, alongside his colleagues from FRU, he has been involved in creating and executing site-specific performance pieces that connect architecture with theater, using a methodologically structured system that comprises architectural and urban analyses to establish the problematics that the specific buildings (or communities) are facing, and site-specific interventions that address said problematics in a spatial and performative manner.

He has been part of architectural and artistic exhibitions, such as the 18th Venice Biennale of Architecture (Egyptian pavilion, NiLab - The Nile as a River, collaborator), 15th Prague Quadriennale of Stage Design (Student Pavilion of Republic of North Macedonia, author), Biennale of Stage Design in Novi Sad, Serbia (project Collab Commons, collaborator and student researcher), among others. Since 2023 he has also been working as a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Architecture in Skopje.
