During their stay at ZK/U, edler will focus on developing an experimental coffee shop and micro cinema for artists and dogs. Inspired by artist-run spaces and relational art projects this project is meant to function as a site for discussion, sharing, and hanging out. This project aims to function as an active site for research and learning, hopefully culminating in an informal symposium on the state of art production, artists’ individual agency, their responsibilities to themselves and each other. Taking specific inspiration from radical political agitation and activism of the 1970s, this project seeks to explore the role of contemporary artists in the broader public community as well as their relationship to media, imperialism and state-sponsored violence.
