The Tripod, the Shovel, and the Notebook was an is an essay film and a photo exhibition in progress. In this project, Gal Amiram followed a Palestinian mosaic conservationist, a Jewish settler archeologist, and a Christian zionist archeologist from Texas - all working in Jewish settler’s archeological sites; as well as the NGO Emek Shaveh who works against the violent takeover of Palestinian lands by Settlers and Israeli government with archeological claims. In this project, Amiram juxtaposed contemporary footage with archival footage of colonial archeological expeditions in Palestine, and historical maps of Palestine specifically areas that are now in the occupied territories from institutions such as The Palestine Exploration Fund, Khalidi Library, The Rockefeller archaeological museum, and the Albright institute.
