Vemund Thoe, born 1980, lives and works in Oslo, Norway.
Vemund Thoe works primarily with painting and video. His work focuses on displaced peoples, people who have been forced out of their original habitat into a new one. His ongoing project deals with the Pruitt-Igoe housing project, in St. Louis, Missouri, which was demolished in 1972-76. In this project he focuses on the psychology of architecture, the discrepancy between utopia and reality. Thoes video works are only viewable online which provides a displaced format without geographical connection, reflecting the sense of alienation portrayed in the videos.
