Janisa Nelson aka Blackmoonchild is a self taught Detroit producer and DJ deftly and courageously blending classic techno with futuristic sonics. Since 2018, she's honed in on a unique and rapid pace sound, noticed by parties like Interdimensional Transmissions and Underground and Black and headlining in cities throughout the US.
As a producer, her experimental arrangements and use of sampling provide a glimpse into her personality: From a Victoria Monet vocal over a raw electro club groove to 90's smooth RnB on a Chicago juke beat, each release is an exciting curveball. Her tracks have gotten her noticed by contemporary labels RapRave and SlickDown, amplifying her Midwest sound to the East Coast, as well as a solo EP with London's Cayata.
Currently, she is the co-founder and resident DJ of Blueprint, a black femme led party that takes place in Detroit.
