The River assemblies, an ongoing architectural research project studying urban post-industrial rivers. Learning from the actors and materialities that together cohabit and create a location, a river, or other urban area. How to better take them into account in urban design? Both regarding the human and more than human communities inhabiting the site. To walk with the river is to participate in its ongoing performance — one that unfolds across time, species assemblages, and materialities. Siiri’s time in the residency was structured around participative fieldwork sessions and gatherings that invited other ZK/U residents as well as local researchers, artists and other citizens to reflect their relationship with the River Panke.
Siiri is working as the co-artistic director of the Soiva Metsä Festival – a multidisciplinary art festival and a residency taking place in a forest in Northern Kainuu, Finland. The event weaves together multidisciplinary art with proposals, and reflections on the state of forests in Finland and art as a force shaping these multi-species ecosystems.
This residency is funded by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
