Collapsing Geography - Kevin Gaynor

(c) Kevin Gaynor, 2022

Kevin Gaynor ( Ireland )

Kevin Gaynor used his time at ZK/U to create a new, immersive sculptural installation framing the contemporary identities, geography and emerging forms of global-classes that inhabit Europe. The work contexualised itself through public engagement, exploring internationalism, and geography’s effects on identity. Extensive research supported this studio practice, becoming shaped to communicate physically, creating work that collapses geography, and elevates social engagement through an art practice. Informed in part by the geographic, and historical context in which Ireland sits, this perspective will create distinct encounters, from a uniquely current framing.

(no) SCHOOL AHEAD and AUTUMN.pdf are two separate projects being physicalised and researched by Kevin Gaynor. Using his socially engaged sculptural practice, these works continue his focus on centralised power and Europe's role within it, while creating work that spotlight the Arms Trade in Germany, and the abuses of the paper industry by the European market.
